WELCOME TO NAZARETH ICE OASIS YOUTH HOCKEY

The Nazareth Ice Oasis Youth Hockey Program offers children and young adults the training, feedback, and encouragement needed to help them acquire skills, learn game fundamentals, and achieve their personal best in all aspects of hockey. Our goal is to give your child a safe, positive and enjoyable hockey experience, instilling a love of the sport and skills that will enable them to play hockey into adulthood.  To get more information about getting someone started in hockey click here.

Eligibility
Our program is open to children ages 4 to 17 – with or without prior hockey experience. Kids wanting to get started with hockey would begin with the Starter Hockey Program. Our league program divides the kids up according to age group, and teams are formed according to parity throughout the league.

In House Program
The starting point for all future NHL stars. Our In House program includes an hour and 15 minutes of practice per week. Each practice session covers drills focusing on skills and team play.  Starting Summer 2011, we are going to be incorporating the American Development Model (ADM)  into our practices and games.  This development model focuses on greater reptition of skills to promote faster mastery of basic hockey skills.  Part of this format features cross ice games once per month.  In House teams are divided into various age groups, and each team has both a head and assistant coach. In addition to individualized feedback, the program promotes good sportsmanship and personal growth as youths transition into adulthood. Games are conducted in 15-minute running time periods and are refereed by certified officials. Play is competitive and age-appropriate play is enforced.

Seasonal Hockey Clinics & Family Fun
In addition to the regular games, players are encouraged to participate in our skill specific clinics and practices held during the Spring and Summer holidays. Weeklong summer clinic costs are additional, but the extra ice time is essential for the development of the players. We also have fun activities such as the Family Skate and BBQ at the end of the summer season. During the winter we hold our Winter Wonderland to celebrate the holidays as well. There is also a Parents vs. Kids game during the summer and winter breaks.

Tournaments & Out of League Play
Nazareth Ice Oasis is the host for the annual Turkey Tournament held over Thanksgiving weekend. In House teams, from Mite to PeeWee levels, come from around the Bay Area to compete. The kids love the tournament atmosphere, and 4 games in one weekend is a great experience. We work with and set up games with other rinks’ In House programs to give the kids a taste of “away” games. We trade ice back and forth to encourage competition and growth with other clubs.

Costs & Sign Up
The costs for the Youth In House League vary by season. Generally, the Fall/Spring season is longer than the summer season and translates to a higher cost. We also host the Turkey Tournament and scrimmages with other local In House teams. Although scrimmage costs are included in the league fees, tournament fees are extra.
